Posted in Rhinoplasty on May 9th I’ve heard people talk about tip rhinoplasty. Can you explain what this is? Answer:
The tip of the nose is the lower one-third. There are cases in which the upper two-thirds are acceptable and don’t require any change. In these cases the surgeon can focus on the tip of the nose and re-contour it. Usually this involves narrowing, improving definition and rotation of the nose. Posted in Revision Rhinoplasty, Rhinoplasty on May 5th How much does a revision rhinoplasty procedure cost? Is it the same, more or less than the original procedure? Does insurance or the original doctor ever cover the cost? Answer:
The fee for revision rhinoplasty, as in primary rhinoplasty, varies. Regarding insurance, unless there is a functional component, insurance does not cover this. Posted in Rhinoplasty on April 23rd Does insurance cover rhinoplasty when it’s performed on a nose that’s been broken? Answer:
Insurance does not cover rhinoplasty. If however certain structural changes are performed to correct a broken nose and it is not deemed cosmetic by the insurance company, they may pay for it. Posted in Rhinoplasty on April 22nd If you have a deviated septum, will fixing it also improve a crooked appearance? Answer:
Correction of a deviated septum may improve a crooked appearance; however, if a significantly deviated septum is not repaired during the surgery, it may produce a crooked appearance or prevent a crooked nose from becoming straight. Posted in Rhinoplasty on April 12th The tip of my nose is too round. Can this be corrected with rhinoplasty? Answer:
Contouring of the nasal tip is one of the most gratifying aspects of rhinoplasty. There is no question a very round nasal tip can be narrowed and shaped so that it is not as prominent. Posted in Rhinoplasty on April 10th I know swelling is normal after rhinoplasty. I’m a little over a month from mine and the swelling seems extreme in the morning, then clears up by night. Is this normal? I’ve heard morning swelling can be permanent, is that really possible? Answer:
It is normal to have increased swelling in the morning after a rhinoplasty. The fact that it clears up over the day is a good indication that eventually the swelling will stop and that it is not permanent. Posted in Rhinoplasty on February 10th I would like my nose to fit into the normal range (size and shape) of people with my ethnicity. Should I bring in pictures of what I want to look like Answer:
You could bring in pictures or just discuss your desire with the surgeon and possibly with imaging, you can get a reasonable idea of what changes would be made to your nose. Posted in Rhinoplasty on February 9th What are natural vs. artificial implants for rhinoplasty and what are the advantages or disadvantages to each? Answer:
Natural implants would generally be considered those taken from the patient's own material. We frequently use grafts in rhinoplasty taken from the patient's septum or ear. Rib cartilage can also be used and this can be taken either from the patient or from a donor. Posted in Rhinoplasty on October 28th Hi.
