Body Contouring Surgery

Various body contouring options are available for those people who are interested in improving the appearance of their body.

These procedures have several goals in common: Removal of extra skin; elimination of excess fat; and flattening of the abdomen in the midsection by surgical tightening of the muscles.  The degree of each of these results depends upon the exact procedure selected. 

For those who are thin and have just extra skin along their lower belly - below the bellybutton - a mini-abdominoplasty may be best.  This can be easily performed in the office under sedation.  The extra skin is excised and the lower abdominal muscles are tightened.  The incision is no longer than a C-section scar.  This may be combined with liposuction.  The recovery is fairly rapid too.

For individuals with more fullness of the entire upper and lower belly, an abdominoplasty or an extended abdominoplasty may be more appropriate.  These procedures tighten the skin and muscle of both the upper and lower belly while removing fat from the love handles.  This produces a dramatic change.  The incision hides in the bikini line.  An overnight hospital stay is usually recommended.

A full body lift is a great procedure for those patients who are moderately above their ideal body weight.  This procedure is also appropriate for those patients who have undergone gastric bypass and are struggling with excessive sagging skin. Removing all the tissue around the entire mid-section (both front and back) results in a combined buttock lift, outer leg lift and tummy tuck.  An overnight hospital stay is required.
