Breast augmentation in New Jersey

We believe that breast augmentation should be individualized for each patient. During the consultation, we will use this information to develop a plan which is specific for you.

Dual Plane Breast Augmentation

In women who have ptotic (droopy) breasts and wish to avoid a breast lift, we offer the Dual Plane Breast Augmentation. This places the implant partially under the muscle and partially under the gland and gives extra lift to the augmentation, potentially avoiding a breast lift. The Dual Plane uses only an incision underneath the breast. It combines the increased volume of an augmentation with the elevation of a lift, without the scars.

Additional Breast Enlargement Information

Breast augmentation is a surgical procedure designed to enhance the size of the breasts using implants. Good candidates for breast augmentation include women who are physically healthy, realistic in their expectations, and are looking to enhance the appearance of the breasts. This procedure can be used to enlarge small breasts, balance breasts that differ in size, or correct a reduction in breast volume following pregnancy, breast feeding or weight loss. Breast augmentation may also be used to reconstruct the breast after mastectomy.

Breast enhancement may be performed in our office facility, an outpatient surgical center, or a hospital. Local anesthesia combined with sedation is often used, though general anesthesia may be preferred in some cases. The procedure typically takes one to two hours to perform. Incisions may be located within the crease beneath the breast, around the areola, or in the armpit. Once the incision is made, a pocket is created beneath the breast tissue and the implant is inserted either directly behind the breast tissue or underneath the chest wall muscle. The implants are centered beneath the nipples and the incisions are then closed.

After surgery, a bandage may be applied over the breasts. This will be removed within several days and may be replaced by a surgical bra. Patients may experience some soreness, bruising and swelling, and the breasts may feel sensitive to stimulation for several weeks. Patients are typically able to return to work within a few days, and the stitches will be removed within seven to ten days. Physical contact with the breasts may need to be avoided for three to four weeks.
