Cheeklift Procedure
As early as their mid-thirties some patients may notice deepening smile lines, a certain sign that their cheek fat pad is beginning to descend.
A cheek lift, or midface lift, is a relatively simple procedure designed to lift a sagging cheek, returning it to its natural youthful position while also diminishing smile lines. By making a small incision of about two inches in the hairline above the ear, we can easily reposition the fat pad.
This is a one hour procedure done in an outpatient setting after the patient is given a local or while under light twilight sleep. Post-operatively, most patients report minimal discomfort. Recovery is usually swift, with many patients returning to work in about one week.
Good candidates for a cheeklift include men and women who are physically healthy, realistic in their expectations, and looking to improve the appearance of sagging cheeks. Some swelling can occur, but discoloration is usually minimal. Though patients can often return to work in about one week, more strenuous activities may need to be postponed for longer.
