Younger patients with early signs of aging benefit from endoscopic brow and cheek lift. The Glasgold Group for Plastic Surgery specializes in both. |
Mark Glasgold, MD, and Alvin Glasgold, MD, are board-certified facial plastic surgeons whose practice is the Glasgold Group in Highland Park. Last month, at the annual meeting of the American Academy of Facial Plastic Surgery, Mark Glasgold presented and taught the endoscopic brow and cheek lift along with a new procedure the two doctors developed to address wrinkling at the corners of the mouth. “The endoscopic brow and cheek lift, which opens up the eyes and lifts the drooping cheek, is a new procedure that improves the entire eye area. In older patients, we combine it with a full facelift, but younger patients are excellent candidates for the procedure alone. Much less invasive than a full facelift, the endoscopic brow and cheek lift is per-formed by making four 1-inch incisions in the scalp (though there is virtually no hair loss). Using operating scopes that are placed through these tiny incisions, the brows and cheeks are lifted and the frown lines between the eyes are eliminated. Two other advantages of the procedure are that it can be performed in an out-patient surgical facility in under two hours, and the healing time is “relatively brief.”
