Restylane Skin Volume Procedure
What Is Restylane And How Does It Work?
Restylane® is an injectable filler that is made out of hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid is a compound that is naturally present in the neural, connective and epithelial tissues in the body. Restylane works by adding fullness and volume to the skin.
What Is Restylane Used For?
Restylane® can be used to treat moderate to severe folds and wrinkles in the face. It can also help treat lines from the corner of the mouth to the nose. These are often referred to as nasolabial folds. Restylane can also be used to add volume to the lips.
How Long Do The Results Of Restylane Last And Are There Any Side Effects?
Patients will immediately see the results after they get their treatment. Those who get Restylane® done to enhance their lips can expect the results to last for about six months. Patients who get restylane to treat fine lines and wrinkles can expect the results to last anywhere from six to nine months. However, the results of Restylane® can last up to 18 months if the patient gets a follow-up treatment done at 4.5 or nine months.
Restylane® is safe, but it is important to note that there are some possible side effects. Swelling, redness, pain and inflammation at the injection sites are some of the most commonly reported side effects. These side effects should subside within three to five days of treatment. Restylane® can possibly cause flu-like symptoms, such as nausea, runny nose and headache. Patients who suffer from these symptoms for more than five days should see a physician for treatment.
Furthermore, patients who are allergic to hyaluronic acid or other dermal fillers should not get Restylane®. Hives and itching may develop in the injection area if one has an allergic reaction.
